Terms of Service

Effective date: May 20, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and iQuitX (the operator of iquitx.com and the iQuit mobile app, hereafter "iQuit", "we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account, signing in, or using the app, you agree to these Terms.

1. What iQuit is

iQuit is a motivational, educational, and accountability tool for breaking habits and staying sober. It includes a sobriety timer, daily check-ins, an AI recovery companion ("Sam"), curated lessons, and supportive communities ("Circles").

iQuit is not a medical service. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, therapy, or treatment for any condition. Decisions about your health, especially around stopping substances that may produce withdrawal (alcohol, benzodiazepines, opioids, etc.), should be made with a clinician.

2. Crisis disclaimer

If you are experiencing thoughts of suicide, self-harm, an overdose, or any medical emergency, call your local emergency number or a crisis hotline immediately. iQuit is not equipped to respond to emergencies. By using iQuit you acknowledge this and agree not to rely on the app in such moments.

US/Canada: 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) · UK: 116 123 (Samaritans) · Text HOME to 741741.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use iQuit. Some features (such as the Pornography recovery track and certain Circles) are restricted to users 18 or older. If you are under 13, do not use the app. If you sign in on behalf of a minor, you represent that you are their parent or legal guardian and consent to the data practices described in our Privacy Policy.

4. Your account

You are responsible for:

Notify us immediately at hello@iquitx.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

6. Content you create

You retain ownership of journal entries, posts, comments, and reactions you create in iQuit. By creating content that is visible to other users (e.g. Circle messages, Feed posts), you grant iQuit a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, and display that content for the purpose of operating the service.

Private content (your journal entries, Evening Reflections, Sam chat history) is yours alone and is never shared with other users.

7. AI companion

Sam is an AI built on top of third-party large-language models (currently DeepSeek and/or OpenAI). Sam is calibrated for emotional support and recovery accountability and is explicitly designed not to shame relapse. Sam can be wrong, miss context, or generate content that does not reflect our or your views. Do not act on Sam's output as if it were professional medical, legal, or financial advice.

We log Sam conversations server-side so the conversation can persist across devices. You can clear chat history any time in Settings, or delete your account entirely.

8. Subscriptions

Premium features are sold through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Pricing is shown in the app at purchase time.

9. Embers

Embers are an in-app currency awarded for completing recovery actions (check-ins, urge surfing, journaling, milestones). Embers:

10. Community moderation

We operate Circles and the Feed using human-reviewed reports and automated moderation. Content that violates Section 5 may be removed without notice. Repeated or severe violations result in account termination. If you believe content violates the rules, use the Report function inside the app. See also our Community Guidelines.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete my account). We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms or applicable law. Termination does not refund any portion of a subscription period.

12. Intellectual property

The iQuit name, mark, app, and content are owned by us. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of our intellectual property to you beyond the limited right to use the app.

13. Disclaimers

iQuit is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will achieve any specific outcome in your recovery.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, iQuit, its operators, employees, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill arising from your use of iQuit. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $50.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, except where you have non-waivable consumer rights to bring proceedings in your home jurisdiction.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app and via email at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of iQuit after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
